COVID-19 - HGV testing suspended

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the DVSA has suspended testing all HGV’s, trailers and PSV’s for up to 3 months.

All such vehicles with an annual test due to expire in a particular month will be issued with a 3-month certificate of exemption (CTE) until further notice.  Paper certificates will not be re-issued the digital record will be amended so that vehicles can continue to operate.

The DVSA will automatically extend vehicles’ test certificates for 3 months from the current expiry date.

Operators will still need to keep their vehicles maintained in a roadworthy condition and operate within the terms of Operators’ licence conditions.

Any vehicle that needs a first MOT (annual test) before 31 March 2020:

Email DVSA if your vehicle requires its first MOT (annual test) before 31 March 2020 and you have not been able to have the vehicle tested.

You need to include your:

name

phone number

address

vehicle registration number (number plate), vehicle identification number or trailer ID
